Two rounds down, three more to go! |
Competition #2 of TNI's "Ultimate G.I. Joe Fansite" finished, and after a rocky week, JOhio's Screaming Eagles once again came out on top. After what was starting to seem like a two team race between the Screaming Eagles and Joeintel.com's "So-called experts", the Jugglers from joebattlelines.com made a heroic charge mid-contest, and by the second to last day, and captured the first place position. Thanks to the bonus questions of this round, it turned out to be a more exciting contest than the first one, and no one team showed any dominance, besides joebattlelines towards the end of the week. Firday's question along with two special bonus questions saw the Screaming Eagles reclaim the lead on the last day, and earn the bonus points for the round. This concludes the "Trivia" part of the contest, and we now turn to focus on more "artistic" forms of competition. The next game will be the G.I. Joe Dio contest, which will start January 4th. The current standings in the game: Screaming Eagles – Johio.com (64 Points) JBL Jugglers – Joebattlelines.com (51 points) “The So Called Experts” of JoeIntel – JoeIntel.com (27 Points) The Terror Squad – Terrordrome.com (-7 Points) Koga Clan – Ultimatetoycollections.com (-20 Points) |

JOhio's Screaming Eagles Kick Butt! |
TNI's first round of competition for the "TNI's Ultimate G.I. Joe Fansite" is over. The boys from johio.com pulled out as winners in 2 of the 5 rounds, accumulating enough points to squeeze by "The So Called Experts" of joeintel.com and winning the first competition. The contest consists of 5 competitions. The first was the "G.I. Joe Toy Trivia". From monday through friday a random question was published at an unknown time randomly choosen between 11am and 6pm; only a designated member of each team could respond. The first team to enter the correct response received the points; any team entering a wrong answer (or having the wrong team member reply with the answer) would result in negative points. The team representing johio.com is MaroonTyphoon, Viper934, Alley Viper, Nova, and Rockshield. The second competition will start monday, and will be the "G.I. Joe TV/Comic Trivia contest". Good luck to our team! The standings thus far: 1. Screaming Eagles – Johio.com (49 Points) 2. “The So Called Experts” of JoeIntel – JoeIntel.com (37 Points) 3. Koga Clan – Ultimatetoycollections.com (0 Points) 4. JBL Jugglers – Joebattlelines.com (-4 points) 5. The Terror Squad – Terrordrome.com (-7 Points) The winning team receives status as TNI's Ultimate G.I.Joe Fansite for the year, as well as a full cover spread on the front page of the very popular toy news website. Each participating member of the winning team will receive $50 store credit from BigBadToyStore.com. |

Happy Anniversary JOhio Online! |
November 27th marks not only the Thanksgiving Holiday for 2008, but it also bears special significance for the JOhio G.I. Joe Collectors' Club. Today is the one year anniversary since the website went live. Originally opening under the domain name of "JOhio.org", the online website was the brainchild of Rock Passio, a member of the "NEO", or North East Ohio "Chapter" of the group. After meeting some of the other local collectors from JOhio and hanging out with them in Atlanta, GA for "JoeCon '07", he noticed the untapped potential that a website could bring to the group, in so far as spreading the message along and helping to organize events and recruit membership. The website turned out to be the catalyst that developed the group into what it later became. Monthly meetings had never been held before, and by February 2008 they became a regular feature of the group. The actual size of membership doubled, then tripled, and then sixtupeled. In August 2008 the group's website was added to the Official Hasbro Sponsored G.I. Joe Collectors' Club website, under the listings of official local chapters. In October of '08 the website purchased the JOhio.com domain name, and now uses it as it's official URL. In the first year of existence, the website and the group surpassed the membership numbers of every other known local group of Joe collectors in the U.S.A. |
